We’d like to introduce you to one of our own streamers, the Magog Smelt. According to Joseph D. Bates Jr: ‘Streamer Fly Tying & Fishing’, this variation of the Memphremagog Smelt was created by Mr. Frier Gulline of Fin, Fur and Feather, Ltd. This fly was first used for landlocked salmon fishing in Lake Memphremagog. It is a very good imitation of the rainbow smelt found in great numbers in this lake. This fly has survived the years, and is still one of the most widely used streamers in North America. Today, it is used for all species of trout, Atlantic salmon, bass, etc…
